Note from Rambo Academy founder Cat Rambo: I’ve been teaching writing for over three decades now. Ten years ago, I started working with what would become the Rambo Academy for Wayward Writers. Since then literally hundreds of students from across the globe have come through my classes; many are out there publishing away and I’m cheering every time I see one on a table of contents or on an award ballot. If you’ve got questions about the classes, please don’t hesitate to mail me with them. Here’s some testimonials for a few past ones.
Live classes are taught online, are limited to 15 participants, and require a reliable Internet connection, although in the past participants have logged on from coffee shops, cafes, and even an airplane. A webcam is strongly suggested but not required. If there is an on-demand version of the class, you will be provided with a free coupon for it, so you have access to those notes.
Unless marked otherwise, most is $99 for single session classes; $79 for returning students and Patreon supporters. Two session classes are $149/$129.
To register for a class, send e-mail with the following details:
- Which class or classes and the dates.
- Whether you would prefer to pay via Paypal, check, or some other means.
- Please identify yourself if you are a returning student or support Cat or Rachel on Patreon to qualify for the special rate.
You should receive confirmation of your registration within 48 hours.
The class “Stories that Change the World: Writing Fiction with Empathy, Insight, and Hope” is 50% Plunkett scholarships (8 free slots).

Hi there! I’d also like to be added to the mailing list. I see that the Flash Fiction workshop and the Editing workshop have a time conflict: both have a session on Sunday June 10 starting at 9:30.
I’m interested in several of these, notably the 6-week workshop and the Establishing an Online Presence one, but I’ll be out of town and unavailable that weekend in June. (Of course, the one weekend in 18 months I am going out of town is right when this class meets!) Will look for future occurrences of the same material.
Oh, I should have requested to subscribe my writing e-mail address instead of my regular one! Please add “bluestockingreads AT gmail DOT com” and thanks!
Please add me to your mailing list! I’m especially interested in the F & SF course when it starts up again in September.

I’m interested in the six week tutorial…wondering if assignments will spark my Inner Student into action 🙂 Is that an open-ended start date?
Thanks–Zooey
I feel as if I need all your classes. Want to sign up for whatever is taught earliest. Elaine
Hi Cat we exchanged a couple emails and I too am interested in the Tutorial. I have the same question as Zooey – is that an open start date or? Really looked through the info on your link and could not determine if it was. Also, PLEASE add me to your mailing list! ✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍✍ ☺

I haven’t written much fiction in the past year and need to get back into it as I have left several characters’ stories up in the air. I think I would like to take one of the on demand classes to kick start my writing again, but I’m not sure which one to sign up for. Also, would I need a mic for the on demand courses? Or is that just for the live courses?
Okay. I guess, never mind.
Raxchel – I apologize for not replying earlier, I didn’t see this message until just now when I was going through the comments.
You don’t need a microphone for the on-demand classes, just the live ones.
If you’re having trouble getting started, the classes that work well for that are the Flash Fiction workshop (live), Moving from Idea to Draft (live or on-demand versions) or either the Writing Your Way into Your Novel or First Pages live class if you’re working on a long project.
Caren Gussoff also offers some classes on creativity and writing process that might be what you’re looking for if it’s just something that will kinda nudge you to be writing.
