The Freelancer’s Toolkit: Turning Writing Into a Business with James L. Sutter (Session One)
March 6 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am PST
You like the idea of writing for hire, but you don’t know where to start. Or maybe you’ve started freelancing, but aren’t sure how to level up your business. Never fear! After 15 years earning a living solely through games and fiction, James L. Sutter has the tips you need to turn a hobby into a career.
From taxes and networking to work habits and career strategy, this class will give you a primer on everything the new freelancer needs to know. How do you get gigs, and are you chasing the right ones? Are conventions worth your time? What should you charge? And how the heck do write-offs work, anyway? Whether you’re an author, editor, game designer, artist, or anyone else doing creative work, you need to understand the business side of the industry. So stop worrying and start getting paid!
Join James for an online workshop in which he gives you the basics of the freelancer’s trade. This is a two-session workshop taught on consecutive Saturdays, 9:30-11:30 AM Pacific time, March 6 and 13, 2021. Each session is two hours long. Limited enrollment (15); scholarships available.
