The Algorithms of Storytelling: Design Patterns and Fiction with Cat Rambo and Wayne Rambo
July 19 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am PST
Software design and storytelling have much more in common than you might think. In both fields, you’re working to create a structure that accomplishes a specific experience for its user/reader. Other concepts overlap as well; the idea of design patterns, models for solutions to common problems, can apply to both fields while editing/rewriting and debugging a program have the same goal and many of the same considerations. Come find out how thinking about one field can help you figure out the problems with the other — and vice versa.
Wayne Rambo is a mobile designer who has shipped hundreds of mobile and web applications during his time with Amazon, RealNetworks, Zulily, as well as multiple start-ups. Together, he and Cat Rambo will deliver two hours of lecture and writing exercises that will help you come away with a better understanding of how stories — and software — work.
