Story Structure for Novella Writers with Margaret Dunlap
December 13 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am PST
You’ve written a novel, and now you’d like to tell some shorter stories in the same universe, but every time you start, it grows into a book.
You’ve got a pile of short stories in your arsenal, and you’d like to dip your toe into some of the longer length categories, but you’re not sure how much story fits in a novelette or novella-sized bucket.
In this workshop, Margaret will walk through the structure of a (1-hour) dramatic television show, how you can adapt it to novelette or novella length prose, and how to make use of other pieces of the TV-writer’s toolbox including writing to the act out, and obstacles vs. complications.
(P.S. If you’re writing a television pilot and are secretly hoping this class will be your key to Hollywood fame and glory? Well, fame and glory we can’t promise, but… the class can’t hurt?)
Join Margaret Dunlap for a workshop on how to structure novellas using episodic TV structure. Limited enrollment (15); scholarships available.
See class details here for more information and to enroll.
